MAINSPRING CARES 2022: THREE TIMES THE IMPACT

June 3, 2022 marked another successful day of Mainspring Cares, the all-firm volunteer program at Mainspring. Choosing a day each year to come together as a group and dedicate our time and heart is indicative of the culture at Mainspring and this year we were fortunate to help serve three organizations in our community.

The team in Tukwila spent the day at the Tukwila Pantry Food Bank and helped with packing, prepping, and cleaning activities and worked diligently to ensure each family had enough food to meet their needs. They also worked on organizing the freezer and relocating heavy items as needed.

The Magnolia office volunteered at Northwest Harvest’s SODO Community Market. They worked together and sorted food donations from Starbucks and kept the pastry and sandwich racks stocked as people picked out their favorites.  They also handed out grocery items, fresh fruits and vegetables, water, and other necessities that individuals requested. (Prior to Covid this was set up as a market where people could come in and shop just as they would in a grocery store but at no cost. It will return to this format as soon as it is safe to do so).

It was great to see that Starbucks donates their leftover food rather than throwing it out (and it is a significant amount).  We were especially impressed with the organization of the process that they have in place to get the food to as many people as possible with a focus on treating people with dignity.

The Bellevue team spent their day volunteering at Mary’s Place, a nonprofit organization in Seattle that provides safe, inclusive shelter and services for women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness and into more stable situations. Not only were they able to learn more about Mary’s Place and the work they do in the community, they were also able to connect with the individuals and families who stopped by for something to eat; the chocolate doughnuts were a big hit with the kids! The team also cleaned and organized three different areas; there were vacuums buzzing, circle time sanitizing the toys and books, dust rags vigorously swirling all while enjoying each other’s company.

These organizations are vital to our community and we are proud to be part of their volunteer programs and show our support.

We would like to thank each organization that allowed us to spend time with them. We look forward to the positive impacts we can make together in the future.
