April 2025 – Celebrating Earth Day

This month, our team members celebrated Earth Day by giving back to nature and supporting their local communities.

On April 9th, Mack, Anna, and Rachel spent the afternoon with the Whidbey Camano Land Trust. Along with a team of volunteers, they hiked out to the Trillium Community Forest to dig up invasive plants, plant native trees to restore local flora, and control water run off on hiking trails. Together they planted over 100 saplings!

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust works in Island County and has been protecting and caring for the two islands’ most important lands and water since 1984. The trust’s mission is to protect, restore and create access to forests, shorelines, farmlands and other habitats in Island County and the Salish Sea, for ecological and community resilience and the benefit of all living things. On April 17th, Vandana and her children volunteered with the City of Sammamish at Lower Commons Park. Together, the volunteers enhanced the wildlife habitat by removing invasive blackberry bushes and planting native plants in their place.

The City of Sammamish partners with many local organizations to support the city, its land, and the community. Since 1999, the city has sought to build a strong, healthy and engaged community by connecting volunteers of all ages with opportunities to serve the area. The city hopes to inspire, support and celebrate volunteerism of all kinds in the community, by providing resources to volunteers and agencies in order to build creative and effective volunteer projects, programs and partnerships.
